Alice G. Mendoza of Kingsville is currently the director of pharmacy at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg. As the director of pharmacy, she is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy. In addition, she serves as the chair of the hospital's Mission Committee, co-chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Medication Safety Committee Mission Committee, and as a member of the Ethics, Interdisciplinary Patient Care, and Infection Control Committees and member of the Administrative Council.
Ms. Mendoza is a 1981 graduate from Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. She also received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Houston in 1976.
Her professional memberships include the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Texas Pharmacy Association, and the Coastal Bend Pharmaceutical Association. She has served on numerous committees/task forces for NABP including the Task Force to Review and Recommend Revisions to the Controlled Substances Act: Hospital Pharmacy Subgroup, Task Force on Electronic Prescribing Software Standards and Data Storage, Committee on Constitution and Bylaws, and the Task Force on Continuous Quality Improvement, Peer Review, and Inspecting for Patient Safety.
Ms. Mendoza is a board member for HALO-Flight, a nonprofit air ambulance service; and Vice-Chair of the Coastal Bend College Advisory Board for Pharmacy Technicians Program. Ms. Mendoza has been active in many other organizations such as American Cancer Society Relay for Life, La Posada Spohn Kleberg Children's Day, and 4-H Club.
Ms. Mendoza is married to her childhood sweetheart, Jose A. Mendoza, R.Ph. They have two children, Jose A. Mendoza, II, and Javier A. Mendoza, who both received masters degrees from Texas A & M, Kingsville. Together, the family enjoys ranching and raising Beefmaster cattle.
