To perform the duties of a pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee, an individual must have an ACTIVE registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Complete a Registration Application Online:
Initial Technician Trainee Application (not yet Certified by PTCB)
Initial Registered Pharmacy Technician Application. Must Have a Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certificate Number. Do not complete this application until you have your PTCB certificate in hand. This is NOT the correct application for active or former Technician Trainees.
Upgrade Technician Trainee to Registered Technician. Current or Expired Technician Trainees Must Upgrade to a Registered Technician. Must Have a Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certificate Number. Do not complete this application until you have your PTCB certificate in hand.
RE-LICENSURE (EXPIRED Technician Registration). Pharmacy Technicians must have a current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (www.PTCB.org) to be registered with TSBP.
Pharmacy Technicians with an EXPIRED Registration and certified with PTCB, may request a “re-licensure packet” by clicking this link. The link will generate an email for you to complete and send. Include a current mailing address, your full name, and the expired registration number. NOTE: Technician Trainees may not renew and are not eligible for re-licensure.
