Obtaining a Pharmacy Technicians & Technician Trainees Registration

To perform the duties of a pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee, an individual must have an ACTIVE registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Initial Technician Trainee Application (not yet Certified by PTCB or ExCPT)

Initial Registered Pharmacy Technician Application. Must Have a Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certificate Number. Do not complete this application until you have your PTCB or ExCPT certificate in hand. This is NOT the correct application for active or former Technician Trainees.

Upgrade Technician Trainee to Registered Technician. Must Have a Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certificate Number. Do not complete this application until you have your PTCB or ExCPT certificate in hand.

RE-LICENSURE (EXPIRED Technician Registration).   Pharmacy Technicians must Have a Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certificate Number to be registered with TSBP.
Pharmacy Technicians with an EXPIRED Registration and certified with PTCB or ExCPT, may request a “re-licensure packet” by clicking this link.  The link will generate an email for you to complete and send. Include a current mailing address, your full name, and the expired registration number. NOTE: Technician Trainees may not renew and are not eligible for re-licensure.
Before requesting a re-licensure packet, verify that your licensed is EXPIRED at: http://www.pharmacy.texas.gov/dbsearch/tech_search.asp.
If the registration is listed as Delinquent, renew the registration online at: http://www.pharmacy.texas.gov/techrenewal.asp.
